Possible solutions:
Are they connected? Seriously - in some units of the need for an external force, others not.

What is the connection? Try a different USB port for USB.

Find Utility Disk "application (located in Applications / Utilities) and see if you can see the drive. If possible, give some information on what type of CD. There will also be able to repair the drive (permissions and file structure). These can be the disk and file system "mount" properly.

All PBG4 with> 1 GHz processors have USB2 ports (more or less since the mid-2003).

Weird. Most PowerBooks had a 1 USB is definitely USB 2

It should work in both directions, be very slow.

It is possible that the way the drive is formatted, not compatible with any version of Mac OS X that you use (If you are using OS 9 that could be the subject) but to say that it is no problem.

Check your USB cable and power for the drive, connect to a USB port and restart. See what happens.
